The Maasai village visit

What’s up blog!!
It’s KrisPa (Krista) and big EL (Elsa). First off, we are doing great and having so much fun here! Today (in our opinion) was the best day so far. We started off by driving a couple hours to see the Maasai tribe. To back up a sec, the drive was very lit. We had a great mix of some country and summer vibes music, but also a mix of some different music from one of our trip leaders (nol-miester). We also had to take a quick gambling stop along the way (aka bathroom break where Cole gambles whether or not we need toilet paper/if it’s a hole or a seat). Ok now on a real note, when we got to the tribe, we were truly in a completely new, eye-opening, environment. We got to dance with the women’s group while wearing some of their traditional jewelry during a money collecting ceremony and were able to interact with many eager young kids. We also got to look inside of their houses made of cow dung and mud, with straw roofs, from the people who actually live there. To finish that visit, we got to buy from a homemade beaded market (don’t worry we’ll bring some home!) just created by the Maasai tribe. We said our goodbyes and moved onto lunch. After an excellent lunch, made by local villagers, we got a long walk through a banana plantation where we learned about how different bananas grow, and got to visit a wood carving location, and an incredible art gallery. At each place, we learned from the woodcarvers and artists and got a chance to buy their work. The prices are all subject to negotiation, so we had to get to work. The highlight was when, Ethan bargained his way to a price half of what the original was! As tired as we were, the drive to our new hotel afterward woke us up immediately. With Sweet Caroline and our group fav song Summer playing in the background, we thoroughly enjoyed the jaw dropping views and gorgeous sunset. Anyways, time for us to hit the hay!!
Love you all lots and lots!!!!
Big El and KrisPa :)
